Ambassador Cem Duna was a career diplomat in the Turkish Foreign Ministry between the years 1969 and 1995. Served at various diplomatic levels in capitals like Copenhagen, Den Haag, Jeddah and London through his career. Became the Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister Ozal in 1985 until 1988. He was appointed as the chairperson/ CEO of the Turkish Radio and Television between 1988 to 1989. He was the Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Turkey to the United Nations Offices in Geneva and the Chief Negotiator in the GATT Uruguay Round Multilateral trade negotiations. He was also Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Turkey to the European Union between 1991 and 1995. During this period the negotiations for the formation of the Customs Union were conducted under his guidance. After leaving the Public Service he set up his insventment consultancy group serving mostly FDI companies coming to Turkey. He was a board member and Vice-Chair for 6 years of Turkish Industrials and Businessman Association now the vice-chair of High Consultative Body of the same organisation. He serves as an independent director in the board of both Turkish and Foreign Companies.
He is a graduate of the Political Sciences Faculty of the University of Ankara and has an MA in The Theory of Economic Integration (the European Union) from the University of Amsterdam.
