Gesner Oliveira has experience both in the private and public sectors and in business and academia. He leads a group of talented economists, lawyers and engineers at GO Associados with focus on infrastructure, competition, foreign trade, and environmental issues. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of California (Berkeley) and is professor of Economics at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (São Paulo). His previous positions include being the CEO of Sabesp – Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (2007-10), one of the largest water companies in the world; visiting scholar at Columbia University (2006); President of CADE, the federal antitrust authority (1996-2000); Deputy Secretary for Economic Policy (1993-95), Secretary for Economic Monitoring (1995).
