Hardeep Singh was Executive Chairman of Cargill South Asia until 2006, responsible for all Cargill companies and businesses in India and Pakistan. Cargill Inc. is a leader in the ag/food domain and the largest privately held corporation worldwide. HS built a large multi business asset footprint and a high performing team created unique market access. He built and nurtured Cargill businesses on the Indian subcontinent for over a decade of rapid growth. Under his stewardship Cargill India and Cargill Pakistan became dominant players in various businesses with revenues of over US$ 2Billion and a leading locally conceived and developed food brand – Nature Fresh. HS has recently served a four year term as Executive Chairman of Amalgamated Plantations (APPL), a Tata Enterprise. APPL is the second largest Tea plantation company globally and holds all of the erstwhile Tata Tea [erstwhile Tata Finlay] plantation assets in Eastern India. During HS tenure APPL was transformed into a vibrant enterprise with an engaged team, differentiated market access and multiple revenue streams. The company achieved record profits year on year during the period. Mr Singh led the creation of a vast employee shareholder family of over 20.000 employees with an innovative stock ownership plan. The business more than quadrupled in value during HS leadership. Earlier in his career HS was Director – Agrochemicals at Rallis India Limited (A Tata Company), and the youngest ever Director in the group. During his stewardship Rallis Agrochemicals became the market leader in India with unique assets and capabilities. The business received worldwide recognition as the fastest grown Agricultural inputs business on the Indian subcontinent and achieved a world ranking. His tenure was marked by building successful enduring alliances with global corporations who were attracted by Rallis capability. HS has served as Chairman of HSBC InvestDirect India Limited and InvestDirect Financial Services India Limited. He is a Director at Advanta India Limited, Escorts Limited, Swaraj Automotives Limited, Agresource Management Private Limited and Brattle Foods Private Limited and Founding General Partner of Exalta LLC and a venture partner with GTI Capital Group. He serves on the Supervisory board of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), a strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai providing physical, market and financial infrastructure. HS has been appointed Chairman of the monitoring committee on Minimum Support Prices constituted by the Planning Commission, Government of India. He has chaired the Confederation of Indian Industry [CII] national task force on food security and is a past member of National Council of CII and the National Committee for Agriculture of FICCI. He has been an official advisor on Agriculture to the Chief Minister of Punjab. Hardeep Singh has been an invited speaker on food and agriculture at forums including the World Bank, US Department of Agriculture global conference, IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute) in Washington DC, Imperial College UK and Indian Institute of Management.
