Farooq Abdullah
Minister for New and Renewable Energy, India

Dr. Farooq Abdullah is a famous political leader who hails from Jammu and Kashmir. He is currently the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy in India and is also the father of Omar Abdullah, the current Chief Minister of the state of J&K. He is the son of Sheikh Abdullah, the stalwart of the National Conference Party and a former Chief Minister of J&K. He has served as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on several occasions since 1982 and was appointed President of the National Conference in August 1981. In 2002, he was selected to Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir.
After finishing his schooling from the Tyndale Biscoe School in Srinagar, Dr. Abdullah completed MBBS from the SMS College, Jaipur. This superb orator and practicing doctor in London married Mollie, a nurse of British origin, in 1968. Dr. Abdullah is known for his passion for photography, ghazals and classical music. He is an avid golfer and is a member of several golf clubs.
