Sachin Pilot
Former Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and President
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, India

Born in Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh, India) on September 7th, 1977, he is the son of Late Shri Rajesh Pilot a seasoned political leader and former Home Minister, Government of India. Mr. Pilot graduated from the prestigious St. Stephens College, Delhi University. He then went on to pursue a degree in MBA from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA. He completed his MBA with a specialization in multinational management and finance. Mr. Pilot stared his career with the BBC, Delhi Bureau, and then worked for General Motors Corporation. Mr. Sachin Pilot is the President of Rajasthan State Congress. A former Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha (Lower House), he represented Ajmer (2009) and Dausa (2004) Parliamentary Constituencies of Rajasthan State, India. In 2009 Mr. Pilot was given the responsibility of Minister of State in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India. His initiatives have included expansion of digital inclusion, postal network modernization, telecom and internet connectivity in remote areas of the Country and revamping of the cyber security space. In 2012 he was elevated as Minister of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. He accomplished several milestones to improve the business environment within India and to progressively move towards more enlightened regulation during his tenure as Minister of Corporate Affairs. The most prominent amongst his achievements was the passing of the Companies Act- 2014 which replace the 57 years old legislation in India. Mr. Pilot has served as a Member of several Parliamentary Standing Committees including the Committee on Home Affairs and Civil Aviation. He was also a Member of the Budget Estimates Committee of Parliament. Mr. Pilot is fond of flying and got his private pilot’s license (PPL) from NY, USA in 1995. He has been a keen sportsman and has represented Delhi State in a number of National Shooting Championships. He is well travelled and had led Parliamentary and Ministerial delegation to various Countries. He likes to keep himself abreast of current political and economic affairs, both within and outside India. He has travelled extensively in India, especially in the remote and interior areas of the Country, to enhance rural development and promote social justice. He is also trying to inculcate a sense of social and political responsibility amongst the Youth that live in the rural and the semi urban areas of the Country. Mr. Pilot is focused on the empowerment of farming community and youth- and to facilitate this mission he has set up and NGO by the name of Jai Jawan Jai Kisan. Mr. Pilot is a pioneering member of the Hunger and Malnutrition initiative HUNGAMA which aims to make meaningful contributions to eradicate child malnutrition in India and is supported by people from across the political social and business spectrum. In 2008, Mr. Pilot was selected as one of the Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum, in recognition of his professional accomplishments and commitment to society. In September 2012, Mr. Pilot commissioned to the Territorial Army as a Lieutenant. He regularly contributes to leading publications on important issues of the day. He has also served as a Board Member of the Management Committee of Delhi Cricket Association (DDCA) as a nominee of the Government of India.
